Likely FAQs
We’ll do our best to anticipate any questions that you might have, but feel free to pitch in by lobbing some additional ones our way (again, dempseyflemington@gmail.com).
When can we arrive on Friday?
Whenever you like! Technically any time after 10 am, but if you need to arrive earlier, just let us know. We’ll be out there already and we can make it work. Unless you’re part of the rehearsal brunch, there’s no organized activity until dinner at the Orchard House around 6pm.
Will you feed me?
We’ll do our best, but you’ll have to do your part too. We will have dinner and desert for everyone on Friday evening at the Orchard House (on-site—map TK). And of course dinner and dessert will be provided at the wedding on Saturday. We will also provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, probably along the lines of bagels and fixings (or something like that—still TBD). We will also keep the coffee flowing as best we can. Aside from Friday’s dinner, all of this will be in the barn. Be sure to bring supplies for your own lunches and snacks.
I forgot supplies—what now?
The nearest market is in Ruch, which is about 15 minutes away by car. I believe it is called Ruch Country Store. It’s certainly nothing fancy, but you can get your basic staples here and it should be sufficient for your needs.
Is there a cellular signal? How about wifi?
Gulp. No signal. Wifi exists throughout the property but is limited. Your best bet is to connect in the barn (network: YaleCreekBrewery / password Otis1234), where it’s more reliable. If you need to make a phone call, that’s probably your best bet as well.
I’m in need of an extra sleeping bag <or other>; can you hook me up?
If you get in touch with us in advance of the wedding (ideally, well in advance), we’ll do whatever we can to fix you up with whatever you need for a successful camping weekend. We’ve got a bunch of stuff ourselves that we’re happy to share and we can hit up our local friends and family to help out as well.
Can I camp in my van, or RV, or vehicle?
Sure! There’s plenty of room to set up in the parking area. Go nuts.
Is there a compositing toilet?
Yes! Funny you should ask. There are two. They’re fun! There is also a bathroom in the barn and we’ll have an additional portable toilet for use on Saturday.
Will I be able to shower?
Yes, there are two very nice shower stalls located just below the Sunrise Cabin. They will be stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and towels. Also, guests in the Orchard House, Farm House, and Heritage Cabin all have access to their own showers.
Can I smoke?
You may certainly smoke outside at any time, but please be extremely vigilant about where you ash and especially where you leave your butts. We live in fire country, so it is exceptionally important that you do not throw butts on the ground where they might catch and relight. Also, keep away from the festivities please! And the kiddos.
Can we have a fire?
Again, fire country. In the summer months, of which June is one, no outside fires are allowed anywhere in the region. If you are staying in a cabin, you will be able to use your wood stove, but that is the extent of it for the weekend.
Is there anything I’m forgetting?
Probably? A headlamp could be very useful if you have one. It’s dark out there (though, do look up—the stars will be pretty magical) and if you’re staying onsite it’d be nice to have something to light your way as you walk around at night.
